Celebrating 2 years at Music SO Simple

I cannot believe it has officially been 2 years since we started Music SO Simple! Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would grow so fast! Our simple dream of bringing a music studio to the Richardson area has become a reality!

Sometimes, as I reminisce through past blogs we have written, I think about our goals and dreams (We dreamed a dream) and it keeps me centered. Looking back at last summer, we had a little over 75 students- and by the end of May 2018, we had over 100! My dream has never been to look at the number of students we have, but to spread the love of learning with quality instruction to dedicated families. I want to see the same students continuing year after year, really committed to learning their instrument. We are building slowly and steadily and no matter how big we grow, that will always be my focus.

So, what have we done our second year? Check this out!!:

• Entered students into DMTA’s Sonatina Festival and Achievement Auditions
  
• Entered students in the TMTA Theory Test
  
• Had 6 successful (and FUN!) recitals- 3 in December, and 3 in May
  
• Given our students opportunities to play in recital prep classes
  
• Made the 40 piece challenge a 2nd year tradition for those students willing to go above and beyond
  
• Continued “Honor Roll” for those students who are achieving more than the standard student in the Spring semester
  
• Hired 4 more AMAZING additional teachers to join Stathia and Meredith
  
• Written many blogs to help our families
  
• Given the Student of the Week award nearly 100 times!
  
• Given out countless Music Bucks and prizes to students for their hard work
  
• Created and always updating our Music SO Simple website
  
• Had 4 FULL days of teaching at St. Joseph Catholic School for students in the after school program (compares to 2 days last year)
  
• Continued being the music teachers for the Little Disciples Early Learning Program
  
• Continued creating and altering a curriculum for our preschool program, Merry Musicians, to help prepare them for private lessons.
  
• Signed a lease on a studio space in Richardson, set to open this summer!​
  

I never would have been able to do this without my partner in crime, Meredith. We share the same vision and teaching philosophy. Cheers to an incredibly successful second year. I only see many more to come!!
